Candidate for Anderson County Council | District 2
Candidate for Anderson County Council | District 2

Born and raised in Anderson, James Hayes has called Anderson home for nearly his entire life. His roots run deep, with family and strong ties throughout Anderson County.
A U.S. Army veteran, husband, father, and local small business owner, James understands firsthand the responsibilities that come with serving others, running a business, raising a family, and being invested in the community you call home.
Prioritizing taxpayer dollars, accountability, and responsible county spending.
Managing growth thoughtfully while protecting the communities that make Anderson County home.
Making sure roads and infrastructure keep pace with the needs of a growing county.
A U.S. Army veteran, James served from 2009–2012. His time in the military helped shape his belief in service, responsibility, and putting the needs of others before your own.
For James, the future of Anderson County is personal. As a husband and father, he wants our community to remain a place where families can build a life and raise the next generation.
Anderson is more than where James lives — it’s home. His family, business, and roots are here, and he wants to help preserve what makes this community worth calling home.
Anderson County has given me a place to build a life, raise my family, and grow a business. I’m running for County Council because I want to give back to the community that has given my family so much.
I believe local government works best when the people making decisions listen first, ask questions, and remember who they are there to serve. District 2 deserves a representative who will take that responsibility seriously and make decisions with the long-term interests of our communities in mind.
I’m not running because I think government has the answer to every problem. I’m running because I believe good local leadership matters — and I’m willing to do the work it requires.
I’m ready to listen, ask questions, and work for the people of District 2.

Anderson County’s rivers, creeks, and lakes are part of what makes our community home. As development continues, protecting those waterways needs to be part of how we plan for growth.
James believes the county should take erosion and sediment runoff seriously and hold development to responsible standards that help keep soil and sediment out of our waterways.
Growth and protecting our natural resources don’t have to compete. With responsible planning and accountability, we can do both.

Supporting the firefighters and rescue personnel who protect our communities every day.

Making sure our emergency services have the resources needed to respond when every second matters.

Supporting law enforcement with the resources they need to serve and protect Anderson County.
Anderson County Council District 2 is home to neighborhoods, businesses, and families across several communities in Anderson County.
County Council decisions affect many of the things residents see every day — from roads and infrastructure to growth, development, public services, and how county tax dollars are spent.
James believes District 2 deserves representation that listens to its residents, protects the character of its communities, and puts their needs first.
